The Women in Business Committee of the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce announced that Barbara Dell of Dress for Success and Samantha Scott owner of Pushing the Envelope have been selected as the recipients of the 12th Annual APEX Award. The black-tie optional award ceremony honoring Dell and Scott, will take place on September 30 at Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa. Guests may enjoy plated dinner, cocktails, silent auction, entertainment, and dancing. Proceeds from the silent auction will support the WIB scholarship fund for non-traditional female students. Barbara Dell is the founder and CEO of Dress for Success SW Florida, a non-profit- organization providing unemployed, underprivileged women professional attire, as well as a network of support and career development tools to help them thrive in work and in life. She was two-time President of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce Professional Sales Group, won two Sales Achievement Awards, President of Women in Sales & Marketing and one of the first of ten women to be inducted into the Greater Rochester Rotary. After moving to Fort Myers, Dell recognized the need to assist women in the community who, like her, found themselves without employment. She sought to open a non-profit, and heard about Dress for Success. Since opening its doors in September 2010 Dress for Success has served over 2,500 women in SW Florida.
Samantha Scott, APR is the President of Pushing the Envelope, Inc., a Certified Woman Owned Small Business providing strategic marketing communication services since 2006. Honored with more than 30 awards, she is Accredited in Public Relations (APR) and has worked with brands such as Harley-Davidson and West Marine.
Also, a nationally-sought after speaker, she has produced flagship store grand openings for international brands, facilitated strategic marketing for multi-million dollar facilities, and garnered media placements in The New York Times, USA Today online, UK Daily, and more.
Passionate about giving back, Samantha serves as a member of the FGCU Foundation and March of Dimes boards, and as Chair of the FGCU Marketing Department Advisory Board. Her philanthropy extends to the business where they have helped non-profits raise hundreds of thousands of dollars and donated more than $100,000 in service to date.
