Captain Nori Ann Reed to speak at ABWA March 13th

Sanibel, FL, Feb 24th, 2018 – ABWA Sanibel Captiva Charter Chapter will present Captain Nori Ann Reed, US Navy, Tuesday March 13th at the Sanibel Community House 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, FL 33957. Captain Reed was raised in a military household. Her family relocated several times, eventually settling on Sanibel Island. She is a graduate of both Cypress Lake High School in Fort Myers, as well as Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. After entering the Navy’s Officer Cadet School, she was commissioned in 1978 and moved into the Women at Sea program in 1980. Captain Reed is the first woman to serve as Commanding Officer on three US Navy ships: the USS KISKA, USS WILLAMETTE, and USS DETROIT. She went on to serve in many other posts in a career spanning 30 years, before retiring to Sanibel.
