The only free eye clinic in the state of Florida has recently undergone a rebranding. The Bonita Springs Lions Eye Clinic has changed its name to the Florida Lions Eye Clinic, to make it clear that it will treat patients who come from anywhere in the state, and even from out-of-the-country. The Florida Lions Eye Clinic, located at 10322 Pennsylvania Avenue in Bonita Springs, celebrated its rebranding and ribbon cutting with its board of directors and the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce.
Services offered by the clinic include eye exams, cornea evaluations and diabetic exams. All services are available for free for individuals who are without medical insurance and below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guideline. The clinic’s doctors are all volunteers, so the clinic is open based on volunteer availability.
Executive Director Tamika Seaton said the clinic is always looking for more volunteer ophthalmologists, as well as volunteer staff to assist with marketing, fundraising and administrative duties.
“I am blessed to work at a place that gives the ‘gift of sight’ to the people in our community,” Seaton said. “Our services are life-changing and put people back to work, school and play.”
