Tammy Kaminski is the new director of project management and construction for all new Discovery Village senior living communities, according to Thomas J. Harrison, co-founder and CEO of parent company Discovery Senior Living in Bonita Springs. Kaminski’s first project is Discovery Village at Naples, which is already underway. Discovery Village at The Forum in Fort Myers opened recently, and others will follow throughout the state over the next several years.
For more than 20 years, Discovery Senior Living (DSL), a family of companies founded by Thomas J. Harrison and Richard J. Hutchinson, has developed, built and operated upscale, luxury senior-living communities. The award-winning management group has a flourishing portfolio of more than 2,000 homes for seniors, caring for almost 2,500 residents.
Kaminski graduated from Catholic University, Washington, D.C., in 1994 where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture with a concentration in Construction Management. She is a certified general contractor in Florida, and finished first place in “Specifications Writing” from the Construction Specification Institute, a national association of more than 13,000 volunteers, dedicated to improving the communication of construction information. She is a certified inspector for the Florida State Department of Environmental Protection Storm Water and Sedimentation Control and holds ratings as AP, B, D and C in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program, a suite of rating systems for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of green buildings, homes and neighborhoods.
Following graduation from Catholic University, Kaminski began her career with the Whiting-Turner Construction Co. of Baltimore, where she was a project engineer on assignments including the Burlington Mall expansion and the Coastland Center Mall.
She moved to Florida in 1997 where she became a project manager for Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. of Fort Myers assigned to projects including McGregor Baptist Church, Florida Gulf Coast University and Chico’s FAS Headquarters, to name a few. In 2002, she joined J. L. Wallace Inc. of Fort Myers as a senior project manager, followed by construction management assignments with Lodge Construction of Fort Myers prior to joining Discovery Senior Living.
“We are very keen for the future success of Discovery Senior Living because Tammy is now a member of our growing family of companies that provide superior quality of life experiences for seniors,” Harrison said. “The rich experience in construction that she has achieved at every management level promises to deliver even greater value and success.
