SCORE with host the workshop “Is Starting a Business Right for You?”
This all-day work shop, including breakfast and lunch, will cover all the basics for deciding if your business concept is feasible. Experienced SCORE mentors will take you through a series of simple steps to get your business launched, addressing what you should and should not do. The workshop will be structured into three 2-hour sessions, including ample time for Q&A.
- How to start up a business: will cover alternative business structures, key startup activities, critical legal and reporting requirements, etc.
- How to market your business: will cover how to identify your potential customer base, which of these customers to target, and the various means to reach them.
- Basics of finance: will cover the essentials of funding your business, recordkeeping, managing cash flows, forecasting financials, and tools such as Quickbooks.
Presenters include: Karl Williams, a retired GE executive with experience in several of GE’s businesses including aerospace, telecommunications, and industrial products; Michael Zahaby, who has thirty-nine years of experience in banking and lending with leading financial institutions as well as owning a multi-unit Wendy’s franchise; and Joseph Bindet; a senior sales and marketing executive in the computer industry.
