STARability Foundation welcomes Miriam Pereira as Chief Philanthropy Officer

STARability Foundation is pleased to announce Miriam Pereira as the Chief Philanthropy Officer; she will work closely with Executive Director, Karen Govern, and the STARability Board of Directors to further the organization’s fundraising efforts and strategies.

Originally from Miami, Pereira has lived in Fort Myers since 1995. She holds an Associate Degree from Miami-Dade Community College, a BS in Communication from Florida International University and a MBA from Florida Gulf Coast University. She is a Certified Fund-Raising Executive with over eight years of experience.

Prior to her fundraising career, Pereira spent 20 years as a newspaper print reporter and editor, including The Fort Myers News-Press.

As the immediate past president of the Association of Fundraising Professionals/Collier-Lee Chapter, and Secretary of the Greater Naples Area Planned Giving Council, Pereira brings a wealth of information and expertise to her new position.

“I’m proud and excited to be working for the STARability Foundation because of its mission to transform the lives of people with disabilities,” says Pereira. “It’s an important organization that helps its participants grow, thrive and shine a light on their abilities, not their disabilities.”

The STARability Foundation exists to Support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing life-transforming opportunities that emphasize Teamwork and connection to the community to build Awareness and Respect for their individual abilities. A professional staff and more than 100 volunteers deliver a full calendar of engaging, innovative and creative programs to ensure that participants, ages 14 to 70, can live their best lives.
