Stevens Construction earns Contractor of the Year for eighth year

Stevens Construction Inc. earned four awards at the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA) Industry Awards event on Nov. 3, including the highest honor of Contractor of the Year.

A panel of nationwide judges named Stevens Construction Contractor of the Year based on criteria such as the company’s achievement of goals, client relations, professional certifications and community responsibilities. This is the eighth year Stevens Construction has received this honor, the company won in 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2011 and 2007.

Pursuing larger projects and diversifying project type were among Stevens Construction’s goals for 2017. In 2017, Stevens Construction began its largest project to date, Gulf Coast Skilled Nursing Unit, a 75-bed, post-acute facility for Lee Health. In 2017, 58 percent of the company’s work was healthcare, 37 percent commercial and 5 percent hospitality.

Stevens Construction won a Summit Award for the best restaurant project for Marlins Plaza. Completed in 2018, Stevens Construction built a 14,655-square-foot shell building and the concurrent build-out of two of the nine spaces, Marlins Brewhouse and Chronic Taco.

In the best healthcare category, Stevens Construction earned a Summit Award for the Lee Health medical office building, a 41,432-square-foot, four-story medical office completed in less than a year.

Stevens Construction has earned 50 Summit Awards since the program began in 2006.
