The Partnership for Collier’s Future Economy (a program of the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce) recently presented the 2012 Excellence in Industry Awards Annual Business Recognition Ceremony. Nearly 300 business, civic and community leaders gathered for the prestigious event honoring top organizations that exemplify the use of innovation, a responsible approach to economic diversification, and business and community enhancement.
The following is a description of the categories and the winners:
Presented to a company that expanded operations in 2011 investing capital and creating jobs in Collier County.
Inn on Fifth
In September 2011, the Inn on Fifth, a boutique, 87-room hotel, broke ground on a $16 million expansion project that will add new suites and meeting space for guests, and more retail locations for the shopping, dining, and entertainment district of Fifth Avenue South. The project has added 15 new permanent jobs.
Presented to a company that began its operations in 2011 and is experiencing optimal business growth in Collier County for the first year in business.
KidsTek Learning LLCi
KidsTek Learning LLC was founded in Naples by a former Silicon Valley engineer and his wife and uses Legos to teach children about science, technology, engineering, and math. This fall, they plan to offer robotic classes to their programs – and teach adults as well as children.
Presented to a company with one-99 employees that sets the standard for entrepreneurship and creativity.
Position Logic is a leading provider of GPS tracking software that recently made the 2012 Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the U.S. The software platform is targeted primarily at entrepreneurs wishing to start their own branded GPS tracking business without the overhead of maintaining their own servers and software.
Innovation Award: Presented to a company that exemplifies innovative leadership through product or process.
ValueCentric (Small Company, under 50 employees)
ValueCentric is a technology and information services company that provides a subscription service for pharmaceutical and medical supply manufacturers, designed to track and analyze product inventories and availability in the marketplace (this is an application called ValueTrak). In addition, a new industry information portal launched this year designed to provide news, opinion and analysis for professionals in the pharmaceutical and medical supply industry.
David Lawrence Center (Large Company)
The David Lawrence Center is a not-for-profit leading provider of behavioral health solutions based in southwest Florida that provides innovative, comprehensive prevention, intervention and treatment services for the one in four local children and adults who experience mental health, emotional, psychological and substance abuse challenges.
Presented to an organization or institution that exemplifies “green leadership” through product, practice and/or process. This award advocates the sustainable management of resources and the stewardship of the natural environment. Organizations that use and/or create technologies to build “green” economic opportunities and benefits are eligible for this award.
Turrell Hall & Associates
The company provides consulting and engineering services to private, commercial, and municipal entities for both marine and terrestrial environments.
Presented to an organization or institution that has enhanced the community through financial, volunteer, and active involvement in an organization, utilizing programs which have contributed to the creation of a better quality of life for all citizens in Collier County.
As a nonprofit hospice, Avow Hospice provides end-of-life care for those who are terminally ill and support for those in our community who are grieving.
