Do you love Shark Tank?
Then come to 1 Million Cups® Naples, where you can listen to entrepreneurs, advise them and help their startups!
Startups get six minutes to present their business, product or service, followed by up to 20 minutes of questions and advice from the audience, which includes the public, as well as SCORE, SBDC, Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce members, entrepreneurs and business professionals. The audience can ask questions or participate through the 1MC app.
The presenters are:
* The Extractor, a safety and rescue tool created by a Fort Myers entrepreneur. It’s mounted on a vehicle’s visor so it’s accessible and easy to use to break a window or cut a seat belt, if your windows are locked or your seat belt is jammed after a crash. The founder invented The Extractor because Good Samaritans rescued him after his car was hit by a drunk driver, causing it to flip over and catch fire, leaving him trapped, upside down and hanging on by his seat belt.
* YouBelong, a social network for people with special needs that helps them feel independent and included while protecting them from cyberbullying. Created by an FGCU School of Entrepreneurship student whose brother has Down Syndrome, the startup is an online community where anyone can feel safe and welcomed online.
* Taste of Immokalee, a student-created and student-run business operated through Immokalee High School’s entrepreneurship program that makes and sells locally grown salsas, sauces and other gifts that give back to the impoverished community.
Organic coffee will be provided by Grumpy Goat Coffee and the Florida Culinary Accelerator @ Immokalee and paid for by this month’s event sponsor, Carina’s Manufacturing, a food business at the culinary accelerator.
The Kauffman Foundation developed 1MC® in 2012 as a free nationwide program to educate, engage and inspire entrepreneurs and startups over a cup of coffee. There are now 183 1MCs nationwide, with 11 in Florida. 1 Million Cups ® Naples is held from 9-10 a.m. the second Wednesday of each month.
