Literacy Council Gulf Coast wins Bonita Springs Nonprofit of the Year

The Literacy Council Gulf Coast (LCGC) was recognized as Nonprofit/Charity Organization of the Year at The Official Community’s Choice Awards on Friday, Sept. 11 at the Ritz-Carlton, Naples. Each year, The Official Community’s Choice Awards recognize Bonita Springs businesses, nonprofits and organizations across 130 categories. Recipients are nominated and selected through community voting.

LCGC offers free English literacy and education programs, including Adult English Learning, Family Literacy, Lifelong Learning, Worksite Literacy, GED diploma preparation and citizenship preparation classes. Programs are taught by volunteer tutors and offered at locations throughout Southwest Florida.

“This award is a testament to the impactful work we do,” said Leah Mason, executive director of LCGC. “In 2026, we expanded our programs to Fort Myers, built new business partnerships for our worksite literacy program and supported our mission through new fundraising initiatives. We’re so honored to be acknowledged by our community, and we look forward to 2027, as we continue our effort to make education accessible to all.”
