PRESS RELEASE: Ita M. Neymotin, youngest attorney and first female appointed in the State of Florida as Regional Counsel of Florida’s Second District Court of Appeal, will speak at ABWA Imperial River Chapter’s monthly meeting, Wednesday June 14th at 6:00 PM.

Neymotin is currently serving in her second term as Regional Counsel for the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel, Second District Court of Appeal. In 2011, Ms. Neymotin was nominated by the Supreme Court of Florida Judicial Nominating Committee, appointed by Governor Rick Scott, and confirmed by the Florida Senate. As Regional Counsel, she manages 140 attorneys and staff throughout the fourteen counties of the Second District of Florida. Ms. Neymotin is a death penalty litigator and tries death penalty cases in the Second District.
Ms. Neymotin escaped soviet oppression as a child when she and her parents immigrated to the United States as political refugees from the Former Soviet Union. As such, she is a passionate defender of inalienable human rights and a strong legal advocate for the citizens of Florida. Recently, Ms. Neymotin traveled to the Ukraine after being invited by the Ukrainian government to join round table discussions in Kiev, Ukraine advancing Ukraine’s democratic laws. Furthermore, they discussed the proposed implementation of their new criminal code of procedure, which was implemented. In June of this year, Ms. Neymotin, along with several elected officials, hosted a delegation from the Republic of Belarus on its recent unprecedented Southwest Florida visit to discuss our criminal justice system and to explore mutual economic opportunities between the two countries. This led to the forging of a sister-city agreement between Fort Myers, Florida and Gomel, Belarus.
