Guest Column Guidelines

The following are the basic guest column guidelines for submission to Southwest Florida Business Today.

First, we're looking for original material, written by the local business owner. Second, it must have a local angle and be written for the business owner/operator. It should have an educational approach. Third, we would like a 20-30 word "mini-bio" of the author and we will print that in addition to contact information you provide. If you have a headshot we can use, that would also be appreciated (not a web photo, please: they are too small for us to use.) The average column is around 500 words: we are open to something more in-depth if it is of benefit to our readers (i.e. it may run in two parts.)

The guest column should be sent to us as a Word document and as an attachment. Art should be attached as well.

Your guest column submission does not have to match that issue's theme: we run both themed and non-themed guest columns each month. You do not have to be an advertiser to get published. (See the calendar for each month's theme).

Please note that your organization may submit a guest column in the issues where businesses are welcome to submit 300 words ABOUT your company, as long as they match the theme for that month. These are the March, May, August, October, November and December. Press releases are welcome any time, as long as they relate to the local business community.

Guest columns run at no charge and space-available, advertisers receive priority.
