Florida’s School Superintendent of the Year: Dr. Kamela Patton, April 11th
Dr. Kamela Patton, Collier County’s award-winning Superintendent of Schools, will address the membership of ABWA’s Imperial River Chapter, Wed April 11th at 6:00 PM at the Holiday Inn Fort Myers Airport at Town Center, 9931 Interstate Commerce Dr, Fort Myers, FL. Networking begins at 6:00 PM, followed by plated dinner at 6:30 and speaker at 7:00. Registration is $30 at ABWAImperialRiver.Eventbrite.com

Dr. Patton joined the Collier County Public School District in June of 2011. Under her leadership, the school district’s State ranking has improved from 33rd to 5th in the State. The number of Collier students exceeding the state average on test results has vaulted from 30% to 91%.

Leadership led to Dr. Patton’s selection in 2017 as Florida’s School Superintendent of the Year by the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations. The honor extends beyond classroom performance. Dr. Patton has also been recognized for the school district’s exemplary response to Hurricane Irma. Dr. Patton serves on a number of non-profit Boards, including Jr Achievement, the Shelter for Abused Women, and the Southwest Florida Conservancy, to name a few. Originally from Kalamazoo, MI, Dr. Patton has been an educator for more than 30 years.
