June Lunch Meeting – Talking ‘Bout my Generation….and Yours: Understanding Colleagues Quirks and Tools to Maximize Multigenerational Relationships – Dr. Doni Landefeld, Ph.D.

We’re at a time in history when there are more generations than ever working together. In some larger organizations there may be up to four or even five different generations coexisting. Different life experiences, politics, historical events and more shape the generations and can result in conflict when individuals from one generation misunderstand others from another generation. This content-rich presentation will compare the nuances of generations according to their ages, birth years, when they came of age, famous examples, and workplace characteristics. A section will also highlight Millennials’, soon to be the largest generation ever in the workforce, including how they view the workplace, how they want to be led and how they prefer to lead. Finally, we will discuss some tools to mitigate turnover and enhance employee engagement through a better understanding of generational differences.
