LeeSar/Cooperative Service of FL Announces New Vice President and Executive Director

(Fort Myers, Fla.—Jan. 21, 2020) — LeeSar and Cooperative Services of Florida, Inc. (CSF) welcome Jonathan Girnys, PharmD, MBA, BCPS, Vice President of Pharmaceutical Services, and Phillip Amos, Executive Director of Plant Operations.

“Our commitment to providing members the highest quality products and services at the lowest possible costs requires talented leadership. This is particularly true in the complex and highly regulated pharmaceutical and nuclear service lines,” said Bob Boswell, President & CEO of LeeSar/CSF. “We are confident in Jonathan’s ability to lead these areas with results that provide even greater value for our members.”

Girnys has leadership responsibility and oversight of all pharmaceutical initiatives ensuring member hospitals achieve optimal value through superior pricing performance of a diversified contract portfolio, access to high quality compounded pharmaceutical products, mitigation of medication shortages and evidence based best practice clinical alignment partnering with Pharmacy System Directors, Clinicians, Purchasing Specialists and Subject Matter Experts from each member health system.

Girnys first came to LeeSar/CSF in 2019 as Executive Director of Pharmacy through a recent partnership with Vizient, a national group purchasing organization (GPO). His knowledge of pharmacy supply chain, clinical experience and project management have helped enhance CSF’s pharmacy contracting portfolio and value services.

Prior to joining Vizient, Girnys was responsible for Pharmacy Operations & Compliance at Florida Hospital. He served in several leadership roles, including national involvement with the American Society of Health System Pharmacists Executive Committee. He is an advocate for pharmacy leadership and passionate about improving patient clinical outcomes.

Girnys graduated with his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Georgia and is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. He completed a two year health system pharmacy administration residency, is an alumnus of the Pharmacy Leadership Academy and received his healthcare focused MBA from New England College.

Amos is responsible for providing strategic leadership necessary to maintain and continuously improve the physical structure, HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, utilities, steam, fire safety, elevators, janitorial, painting and grounds keeping throughout all LeeSar/CSF locations.

“As LeeSar/CSF continued to grow and add more complex service lines, the sophistication of our facility increased,” Boswell stated. “Clean rooms, robotics, sterilization equipment, refrigerated warehousing are several examples of why we needed a high caliber plant operations leader. Phil is that person and we are happy he is on board.”

Amos was previously Director of Facilities for AdventHealth Sebring, where he was responsible for facilities management of three hospitals, an outpatient surgery center, and nearly 40 office buildings across three counties. He managed multiple construction and renovation projects ranging up to $31.5M, including the construction of a new critical access hospital in Wauchula. Amos was also responsible for overseeing safety, security, engineering, biomedical equipment, courier services, and environmental services. Prior to AdventHealth, he was the Chief Engineer of Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Amos earned a Master of Science Degree in Management from Troy State University with a Bachelor of Science from University of the State of New York. He has served more than 20 years in the US Navy.

LeeSar/CSF recently completed a $20 million expansion to accommodate growth. The operation runs 24/7 with a dedicated workforce of approximately 500 employees. In 1998, Lee Health and Sarasota Memorial Healthcare System developed LeeSar/CSF as a means to reduce costs for medical goods and services while providing safe, high quality patient care. They have since been joined by Central Florida Health and most recently Jupiter Medical Center.
