Counseling Associates welcomes new mental health counselor

Counseling Associates in Naples announced the addition of a new mental health counselor to its downtown office in The French Quarter at 501 Goodlette Road North.  Adam Sanders, a licensed mental health professional with extensive training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is accepting new clients. He joins a group of seven counselors dedicated to promoting mental wellness and helping individuals, families and groups manage lead fulfilling lives.

Sanders brings 10 years’ counseling experience, providing a combination of cognitive-behavior therapy, mindfulness-based approaches and other evidence-based practices for adults struggling with depression, anxiety and anger issues.  He specializes in the treatment of substance abuse, addictions, relationship issues, trauma, OCD and men’s issues. Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Sanders is equipped to help clients process and overcome traumatic experiences, PTSD and other emotional challenges.

EMDR is a psychotherapy approach used to relieve the distress associated with traumatic memories. Using bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements and shoulder tapping, EMDR helps the brain to reprocess and integrate distressing memories, leading to a reduction in their emotional impact and an improvement in overall mental health.

“We are thrilled to welcome Adam to our team,” said Jennifer Jankowski, Director of Operations, Psy.D., for Counseling Associates of America. “He brings a high level of expertise and a compassionate approach that fits perfectly with our mission to provide the highest quality mental health care to the community.”

Sanders earned his bachelor’s degree from Florida International University in North Miami. He earned his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Hodges University in Fort Myers. He completed his clinical internship at the ACT Abuse Shelter where he worked with survivors of domestic abuse and at Park Royal Hospital where he facilitated group therapy for patients with chronic mental illness. He has also provided mental health services for veterans and first responders.
