Fort Myers Beach receives Community Assistance Visit from FEMA

Following the Town of Fort Myers Beach’s recent release from probation, it was informed of a Community Assistance Visit (CAV) from FEMA, scheduled for July 15-17. This visit was a standard part of the process as it works toward full reinstatement in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

Since receiving this notice, its team has been working diligently and in close coordination with FEMA and FDEM to prepare for the visit. While on Fort Myers Beach, FEMA and FDEM representatives in conjunction with Town personnel, were evaluating structures and properties with the intent of correcting processes to bring it to compliance with the NFIP.

The Town remains fully committed to transparency, compliance, and continuous improvement. This visit was a vital step in achieving the ultimate goal of being restored as an active member in the NFIP and it views the CAV as a tremendous asset as current processes were tested to ensure they meet the standards of FEMA and FDEM.

The Town looks forward to continued collaboration with FEMA and FDEM. It now awaits feedback regarding its status in the NFIP and will provide updates as they become available.
