Naples Cancer Advisors honored by the Board of Lee County Commissioners

Naples Cancer Advisors, a community-based, non-profit organization providing free consultative oncology services to cancer patients and their families across Southwest Florida, is proud to announce that it has been recognized by the Board of Lee County Commissioners (LCC) in conjunction with Lung Cancer Screening Awareness Month throughout the month of November.

Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States with an estimated 124,730 deaths each year, according to the American Cancer Society. Early detection through low-dose computed tomographic screening can significantly reduce mortality. But despite medical recommendations, only 16 percent of eligible Americans are screened for lung cancer each year.

Expanding access to lung cancer screening is key, particularly for those at an earlier, more treatable stage. Naples Cancer Advisors is dedicated to guiding patients through the lung cancer screening process from risk assessment and detection to diagnosis, treatment and care at no cost to the patient.

“It is critical that we continue to increase access to screening and ensure that Floridians are informed of their risk factors, improving early detection, reducing the financial burden and saving lives,” said Nikki Audia, Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement. “Naples Cancer Advisors is proud to accept this proclamation from the LCC on behalf of everyone who is working to combat this disease.”
