Benson elected Vice Chairman of Affordable & Workforce Housing for Florida

Ryan Benson, co-owner of custom home building firm, A. Vernon Allen, has been named the Vice Chairman of the Florida Housing Finance Corporation.

The Florida Housing Finance Corporation administers affordable and workforce housing initiatives and programs for the State of Florida, as well as federally directed resources to the State programs.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Benson to the board in 2019 and he served as the chairman in 2024.

“It is such an honor to create housing units and help first time buyers in our State,” said Benson. “We’ve funded almost as many units in the past five years as we had done in all the previous decades combined.”

Benson added that the impact of Florida Housing Finance Corporation on state housing approached $4 billion in 2025 and is rapidly expanding housing programs including those that are the most vulnerable, children and veterans.

A. Vernon Allen Builder is a luxury custom home builder in Naples and on Sanibel.

In addition to this volunteer position, Benson served as President of the Florida Home Builders Association in 2025. He has served on the boards of numerous local organizations including Canterbury School, Boys and Girls Club of Collier County and the Collier Building Industry Association.
