Immokalee Foundation welcomes Carey Brisson to Board of Directors

The Immokalee Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Carey Brisson to its Board of Directors, bringing more than 25 years of educational experience and a lifelong commitment to helping young people discover their potential.

A dedicated educator, Brisson has spent her career inspiring students through meaningful learning experiences while advocating for educational opportunity.

She earned degrees in International Relations with a focus on Latin American Studies and Conservation Management, as well as Social Studies Education. Her passion for education was further strengthened through study abroad experiences in Mexico and the Dominican Republic, where she developed a lasting appreciation for global cultures.

After moving to Southwest Florida, Brisson pursued her dream of becoming a teacher. She spent most of her distinguished career at Pine Ridge Middle School and taught summer school in Immokalee, where she developed a deep appreciation for the students, families, and community she now proudly serves.

In 2002, Brisson earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, broadening her understanding of educational systems while reaffirming her passion for working directly with students. Today, she continues supporting local youth as a substitute teacher while dedicating her time to community service and mentorship.

Brisson first became involved with The Immokalee Foundation as a volunteer mentor after learning about the Foundation’s innovative Career Pathways Program. Inspired by its mission of preparing students for in-demand careers, she recognized an opportunity to help guide young people toward meaningful futures.

“Carey’s passion for education, commitment to our community, and deep understanding of our mission make her a wonderful addition to our Board,” says Noemi Y. Perez, President and CEO of The Immokalee Foundation. “We look forward to her leadership contributions as we continue to advance our mission and impact.”

In addition to serving on The Immokalee Foundation’s Board of Directors, Brisson also serves on the Board of Directors for Laces of Love Charitable Foundation, which provides new shoes to children in need throughout Lee and Collier counties.
