Curran Young Construction awarded Calusa Country Club contract

Curran Young Construction has been awarded the contract for a new clubhouse and amenity expansion at Calusa Country Club in Lakewood Ranch. The new clubhouse will be designed to serve as the social centerpiece of the community.

The project features vertical construction of a 21,010‑square‑foot clubhouse, including 17,598 square feet of interior space and an additional 3,412 square feet of covered outdoor areas. The clubhouse will include three event dining rooms, a kitchen, a main tavern bar, a smaller bourbon bar and a golf simulator, creating a destination focused on dining, leisure and social engagement.

“This project brings together craftsmanship, thoughtful design and a clear vision for how residents gather and connect,” said Chris Curran, CEO of Curran Young. “We’re proud to deliver a space that elevates the clubhouse experience and creates a central hub for the community built around hospitality and comfort.”

Designed as a purpose-driven social venue, the clubhouse prioritizes food, beverage and shared experiences through a variety of distinct yet connected spaces. Unique elements include an art gallery-style hallway, a see-through wine display that transitions from the entry into the main tavern and U-shaped booth seating throughout lounge areas that evoke a refined mid-20th century aesthetic.

The project will complement existing amenities within the community, including tennis, aquatics and wellness facilities, while providing a dedicated environment that brings residents together in a cohesive and inviting setting.

“Calusa Country Club’s clubhouse stands apart in its focus on creating a true social destination,” said Bruce Young, president of Curran Young. “Our team is focused on delivering a high-quality build that reflects the design intent while maintaining efficiency and value, ensuring the final product meets both the client’s vision and the expectations of the community.”

Construction will involve all-new ground-up development, with an emphasis on precision, coordination and maintaining design integrity throughout the process.

Curran Young partnered with Basham & Lucas Design Group, Inc., a design firm based in Jacksonville, on the project.
