Andy Koebel earns statewide recognition from Florida Rural Water Association
The Florida Rural Water Association has recognized Andy Koebel, executive director of Bonita Springs Utilities Inc., with the prestigious William G. “Bill” Grubbs Special Recognition Award, a prestigious distinction recognizing exceptional service to Florida’s water and wastewater industry.
The award honors individuals in state, federal and agency roles who have provided outstanding support for Florida’s water and wastewater systems. It is named after William G. “Bill” Grubbs, FRWA’s longest serving board member and a decades-long advocate for rural water systems throughout the state.
Koebel was recognized for his steadfast leadership, technical expertise and commitment to delivering safe and reliable water to the community.
“I’m honored to receive this award, but it really reflects the hard work of the entire team at BSU,” Koebel said. “I’m fortunate to work alongside people who care deeply about our community and recognize the importance of providing safe, reliable water to our members.”
Koebel has worked in the water and wastewater utility industry for nearly 30 years and was appointed executive director of BSU in 2024. He is a member of the Water Environment Federation, Florida Water & Pollution Control Operators Association, American Water Works Association and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Under his leadership, BSU continues to uphold high standards for service, reliability and operational excellence.
