CareerSource Southwest Florida Reopens Centers
Fort Myers, Fla. (May 20, 2020) – The work search requirement waiver will expire on May 30, 2020; therefore, we are reopening our career centers effective June 1, 2020 preferably by appointment in order to assist our job seekers with job search requirements and other services.
“Even though we have closed our career centers due to COVID-19, it is time to reopen them”, said Joe Paterno, Executive Director. “We understand people need to search for jobs once the requirement for job search starts”, Paterno said.
“We didn’t close down completely, we still provided our services via our website, over the phone and by virtual meeting. In order to meet the needs of our community, we decided to reopen preferably by appointments following the strict guidelines from the CDC.”, said Paterno. “The reopening will be done in a safe manner as priority for our staff and clients”.
Paterno noted CareerSource is not the agency that determines eligibility for unemployment benefits, benefits are determined through the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) and are accessible through their website at https://connect.myflorida.com/Claimant/Core/Login.ASPX
Appointments can be made by calling the career center closest to you or via our website at: www.careersourcesouthwestflorida.com
