FORT MYERS, Fla. – HF scientific, a Watts brand, has hired Christopher Li as a research and development engineer to design prototypes of equipment that evaluates water quality.

In his role, Li is responsible for mechanical engineering, fabrication, electronics and software development for water quality equipment and instrumentation. He primarily develops prototypes of automated equipment that monitors chemical contaminants of water in multiple applications.

HF scientific is a leading global producer of instrumentation, test kits and chemical reagents used for monitoring water quality.

“Protecting water is a critical priority for communities across the world, and HF scientific continues to explore new technologies that ensure water quality,” said Dorian Cauceglia, HF scientific’s research and development manager for water quality. “Chris has quickly proven his talents and range of research capabilities as we address an area of concern for billions of people worldwide.”

Prior to joining HF scientific, Li was a robotics engineer and graduate student at Cornell University, where his position included system modeling, controller design, mechanical design and software development. One of his research projects involved the designing, modeling and manufacturing of a self-balancing, two-wheeled autonomous vehicle. Li previously worked as a college-level research assistant and teaching assistant in organic chemistry.

Li earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, with a specialization in biochemistry, from the University of Virginia and a Master of Engineering degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. While at Virginia, Li was inducted as a Phi Beta Kappa honor society member and received the Student Award from The American Institute of Chemists and the Most Outstanding Senior Undergraduate Organic Chemistry Student Award through the American Chemical Society’s Division of Organic Chemistry.
