Christopher Spiro Celebrated as One Of Six Leading Humanitarians at Lee County Honors

FORT MYERS, Fla.  – Chris Spiro’s devotion to the community and his desire to give back drive him each day in business and in his daily life. These qualities that make him such a good steward to Southwest Florida are also noticed by his peers and colleagues alike.

Chris, the founder and chief creative officer of Spiro & Associates Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations, was recently honored as one of six of Southwest Florida’s leading philanthropists and humanitarians at the first annual Lee County Honors reception hosted at the Brotherhood Of Heroes Resource Center & Military Museum in Cape Coral.

Hosted by the Cape Coral Community Foundation, the televised program honored local community leaders who support nonprofit causes and projects. The reception was a night to hear inspiring stories about the ways in which these leaders volunteer their time, talent and treasure for the betterment of their neighbors and their community as a whole.

A resident of Cape Coral since 1970 and a previous Cape Coral Citizen of the Year (2004), Chris is incredibly active in the Southwest Florida community. He has served on several boards of directors and executive committees outside of his time spent running his own business. His philanthropy work has spanned from initiatives to feed the hungry to mentoring young professionals. “There are so many people [in Southwest Florida] who can use, not necessarily a hand-out, sometimes it’s just simply a hand up,” Chris said.

Julie Ferguson, the executive director of the Cape Coral Caring Center, described how Chris came to her foundation’s aid by helping his daughter fulfill a community outreach by providing backpacks full of school supplies for children in need. Later, she said, he came up with an entire campaign and event in support of children who might go hungry in the summer months, calling it SOS: Save Our Summer-Feed the Cape!

“Chris cares about people who are hungry,” Julie said. “He understands there are people in our community who need help and he is ready to help.” Former Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral Executive Director Michael Quaintance and current executive director Donna Shuman-Germain both echoed Fergusons comments as well as shared their own insight into Spiro’s contribution to the community.
