Collier Building Industry Foundation Scholarship Applications Now Available

Naples, Fla. —The Collier Building Industry Foundation (CBIF) announces its 2022 scholarship application is now available. Applicants may also contact the Collier Building Industry Association (CBIA) office at (239) 436-6100 to receive an application via email or postal service. Completed applications are due to the CBIA by 5:00 p.m. on April 15 via U.S. Mail at 3200 Bailey Lane, Suite 110, Naples FL  34105.

“To date, CBIF has proudly provided over $80,000 in scholarships to Collier County students seeking careers in building and construction-related industries,” said CBIA Executive Officer Amelia Vasquez.

According to Vasquez, local graduating high school students or students currently enrolled in college and pursuing studies in construction and/or construction-related fields including architecture, engineering, interior design, surveying or specialty contracting (air conditioning, electrical, masonry, plumbing, etc.) may apply. 

CBIF continues to offer unique educational and fundraising opportunities to benefit local students seeking careers in building and construction-related industries.

On Tuesday, February 15, CBIF will participate in the 2022 “Build My Future” building, trades and engineering career fair for Collier County high school students. This workforce development event is an opportunity for students to learn more about building, trades and engineering careers by participating in hands-on activities and interactive learning. The event will be held from 10:30 a.m.  until 12:30 p.m. at the Collier County Fair and Exposition Center, 751 39th Ave. NE, Naples, FL. Click here for registration information. On Friday, February 18, CBIF will host its third annual clay shoot tournament, “Locked and Ready to Rock – To Benefit CBIF Student Scholarships.” The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Gulf Coast Clays, 12425 Union Rd., Naples. The tournament includes a barbecue luncheon and refreshments, 75 targets, golf carts, tournament shirts, and award ceremony. One hundred percent of event proceeds will go to students pursuing education in construction-related fields. Click here for sponsorship and registration information.

CBIA and CBIF recently hosted its Careers in Construction Shadow Day, where approximately 30 students from Golden Gate, Gulf Coast, Immokalee, Lely, Naples and Palmetto Ridge High Schools joined local building industry professionals in Ave Maria for a day of work-based learning experiences. Participating companies included; Gulf Western Group, Haines AC & Refrigeration, Heatherwood Construction Company, Peninsula Construction & Engineering, Ryan & Scott Media, PulteGroup, Stock Development, The Club at Del Webb Naples, and Two Guys Catering. The program was coordinated by CBIA in partnership with Donna J. Beasley Tri-County Apprenticeship Academy, Florida Gulf Coast University, iTECH and Lorenzo Walker Technical College. Participating CBIF Board Members included JP Coleman, JP Coleman Construction (2022 President); Dave Dunnavant, Peninsula Construction & Engineering (2021 President); Shannon Dunker, Haines A/C & Refrigeration; Rich Cowgill, Stock Custom Homes; Robert McGinnis, Socotec Consulting, Inc., and Eric Morris, BCB Homes.
