Collier County dedicates workforce housing property

Collier County Commissioners held the Workforce Housing Property Dedication Ceremony on Nov. 27 at the Golden Gate Golf Course property on Golden Gate Parkway in Naples.

Collier County is pledging to dedicate 25 acres at the southeast corner of the Golden Gate Golf Course property to help address the workforce housing needs in the area. With the generous assistance of our benefactor community, Rural Neighborhoods is planning to construct 252 affordable apartments for essential service workers in addition to 100-plus units for senior citizens and veterans.

This ceremony featured remarks by County Manager Amy Patterson, County Commissioner Burt Saunders, Kaydee Tuff from the Golden Gate Civic Association, Mary Beth Geier from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation and developer Steven Kirk from Rural Neighborhoods.

The Rural Neighborhoods project is financed in part by the U.S. Department. of Treasury and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and Collier County Community and Human Services.
