David Lawrence Centers awarded $100,000 to support at-risk youth

David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health (DLC), Collier County’s only comprehensive, not-for-profit behavioral health provider, has been awarded a three-year $100,000 grant from Suncoast Credit Union Foundation to support DLC’s Community Action Team (CAT) program. The funds will help ensure youth facing behavioral health challenges and at risk of out-of-home placement, along with their families, can access comprehensive mental health services at no cost.

Delivered by a multidisciplinary team, CAT services include psychiatric care, therapy, case management, mentoring, crisis intervention and 24/7 on-call access. The program is designed to support participants in their recovery and help them succeed at home, school and in the community.

“This vital support from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation will help us continue providing access to those most in need of our comprehensive health services,” said Kimberly Dye, vice president of advancement at DLC. “The CAT team walks alongside each family, ensuring they have the support they need during some of their most challenging moments. We are deeply grateful for the Foundation’s commitment to the well-being of our community’s youth.”

The Suncoast Credit Union Foundation matched $100,000 in community gifts made this fall, amplifying donors’ impact and strengthening DLC’s mission to provide lifesaving and life-changing care to those it serves. DLC is excited to announce it met the $100,000 match in November.

“Our youth are our future and for those facing behavioral health challenges, life can feel daunting,” said Bob Hyde, vice president of community impact at Suncoast Credit Union. “This grant will allow time and therapeutic help to avoid more serious consequences,” he added, “and we are proud to support this important program which allows us to fully live our mission.”

For more than 55 years, DLC has been committed to ensuring behavioral health care is available to everyone in need through education, prevention, intervention and treatment. DLC delivers care throughout the community through six distinct centers of operation, including mental health, addiction recovery, emergency services, awareness and prevention, virtual care, and children and young adults.
