Diamond Custom Homes earns Two Silver Aurora Awards

Naples, Fla. (September 22, 2020) — Diamond Custom Homes was recently recognized with two Silver Aurora Awards for two of its Naples residences. The Florida Home Builders Association at the Southeast Building Conference (SEBC) bestowed honors to the Ladera project for Best Custom Home 4,000 to 6,000 square feet, and the Aria project for Best Renovated or Restored Residential Project. The Ladera project is located in Quail West Golf and Country Club, and the Aria is a high-rise residential project located in Venetian Village along Gulf Shore Blvd.

The Aurora Awards are presented annually to outstanding builders, planners, architects, developers, designers, interior merchandisers and other housing-related professionals. Residential and commercial construction professionals actively involved in projects located in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and the Eastern Caribbean are eligible to participate.

Recipient of the Silver Aurora Award for Best Custom Home 4,000 to 6,000 square feet, the Ladera is a four bedroom, five full and two half-bath, Tropical West Indies-style golf course estate offering a balance of contemporary and traditional, masculinity and femininity, comfort and practicality. With clean lines and transitional exterior features, the estate offers abundant natural light, an open great room layout and outdoor living areas thoughtfully designed for year-round use. The home’s layout is symmetrical, with rooms, doors and windows configured in careful relation to a central axis. It addresses heat, sunlight and generous rainfall by providing shade and protection from the elements, with exterior window shutters hinged from the side or top, wide verandas, and front porches with generous overhangs. The subtle architectural nuances of the roofline and sea-blue shutters communicate an island feel, while tall windows and a wide portico-like veranda share its similar style. The custom residence was sold fewer than 80 days after its November 2019 completion. 

The Aria project earned the Silver Aurora Award for Best Renovated or Restored Residential Project. Completed within a six-month off-season time frame, the residence serves as a recent example of the growing trend of residential renovations within the older yet spacious luxury high-rise tower residences lining Naples’ prestigious Gulf Shore Blvd. This four-bedroom, four-bath, ninth floor residence features 4,000-plus square feet of living area and floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico and Venetian Bay. The builder updated and redesigned the residence, taking great care to upgrade finishes and materials throughout, with emphasis on the kitchen and master bath. Due to luxury high-rise homeowners’ association timelines, the project required a significant degree of advance planning and commitment. In addition to commencing and completing all activity within the “summertime crunch,” unique opportunities included working within the confines of the building and residence’s structural configuration, such as the presence of existing windows and load-bearing walls, which cannot be moved. In order to redesign the layout, two walls and all drywall were removed, and new electrical and plumbing was installed, as were new appliances with custom detailed panels. 

Established in 1979, the Aurora Awards are presented each year to outstanding homebuilders, architects, developers, designer and interior merchandisers. This year’s competition drew nearly 200 entries in 54 categories. Entries were reviewed by a panel of six building industry leaders. Judges are selected from among the most creative and successful individuals within the homebuilding industry, and represent the many disciplines contributing to building and design, as well as geographic diversity.
