Dr. Anthony Anfuso named top WeCare provider by United Way
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Dr. Anthony Anfuso, FACS, a head and neck surgeon at Precision Healthcare Specialists, was named a 2023 top provider through the WeCare Program managed by United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades.
WeCare taps into a network of generous health care providers and corporate partners to connect qualifying individuals with medical care at no charge.
In 2023, Anfuso treated 18 patients through WeCare, providing services valued at $58,405. Anfuso focuses on the surgical management of malignant and benign tumors of the mouth, throat, larynx, neck, salivary glands, thyroid, parathyroid and skin. He also performs reconstructive surgery to correct defects of the head and neck, including microvascular reconstructive surgery.
“Even with health insurance, many individuals in Southwest Florida still struggle to pay for routine medical care, let alone surgery or cancer treatments,” said Anfuso, an otolaryngology specialist. “If someone needs surgery or a medical procedure to potentially save their life, but lacks financial resources to pay for it, WeCare steps in. I am proud to provide my services for United Way and the residents of this community.”
Anfuso is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) who earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He then completed a residency in otolaryngology at West Virginia University and a fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology and microvascular reconstruction at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Anfuso sees patients at Precision Healthcare Specialists’ office at 13691 Metro Parkway, Suite 300, in Fort Myers.
In 2023, United Way reported that local WeCare providers served 332 patients and provided services valued at $9.1 million. Joining Anfuso among WeCare’s top five providers were Dr. Tadeu Frantz Ambros (Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute), Dr. Liliana Bustamante (Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute), Dr. Graciela Garton (Advocate Radiation Oncology) and Dr. Samith Sandadi (GenesisCare).
