Enid Gonzalez named CEO of future Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Naples

NAPLES, Fla. – Enid Gonzalez has been named CEO of the future Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Naples. The 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital, which is under construction at 14305 Colliers Boulevard, is expected to begin caring for patients in July 2022.

Gonzalez, who assumed the position on February 21, will be responsible for overseeing the future hospital’s day-to-day operations as well as patient care and quality. The hospital will provide 24-hour nursing care and physical, occupational, and speech therapies to patients recovering from major illnesses and injuries including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, and complex orthopedic conditions.

Gonzalez most recently served as CEO at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of Manati in Puerto Rico, for four years. In this role, she led efforts to consistently exceed key clinical outcomes, reduce staff turnover, increase employee engagement, and managed COVID-19 protocols. Gonzalez previously served as associate administrator for Auxilio Mutuo Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she led operations for several specialties, including the Rehabilitation and Neurology Units and Physical Medicine and Orthopedic Multidisciplinary Center. Prior to that role, she served as director of therapy operations at Encompass Health of Manati for nine years and as interim CEO. Prior to coming to Encompass Health, she served as a physical medicine and rehabilitation administrative director at Hospital San Gerardo in San Juan for 10 years. She also held previous roles as a clinical educator, clinical instructor and professor at several medical schools in Puerto Rico.

A licensed physical therapist with nearly 25 years of healthcare and leadership experience, Gonzalez completed her bachelor’s degree in physical therapy and two master’s degrees, one in public health and one in health services administration, all from the Medical Sciences Campus in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
