1 Million Cups® Naples

Come support Florida startups at 1 Million Cups® Naples’ women entrepreneurs event and hear why an attorney ditched her legal career to start MyLegalEdge and how a Marine Corps veteran dissatisfied with dating apps created Verimour and the related Hero Harbor for veterans and first responders.

Based on the belief that entrepreneurs discover solutions and engage with their communities over a million cups of coffee, Kansas City-based Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation developed 1MC in 2012 as a free nationwide program to educate, engage and inspire entrepreneurs and startups.

Florida startups have six minutes to present their business or service, followed by 20 minutes of questions or advice from the audience. 1MC Naples is held the second Wednesday of every month, from 9-10 a.m.

February’s presenters are:
• MyLegalEdge, a Naples Accelerator startup that offers legal forms for all 50 states, allowing users to easily fill out forms online (PDF fill-ables) or to print them out. MyLegalEdge has partnered with Collier County’s Cool Savings employee discount program and Florida Virtual Entrepreneurship Center, whose members receive a discount, and last fall, it offered free estate planning forms to veterans nationwide – ending in 22 veterans in 11 states receiving more than $7,000 in services.

• Verimour and Hero Harbor, related Daytona Beach-based, veteran-owned startup apps that provide communication management tools. Verimour focuses on personal relationships, a dating app whose motto is: “Connect. Honestly.” It makes it easy to find new friends or stay better connected with old friends by using searchable interest tagging, in-app event scheduling and powerful privacy settings. By using ID verification and powerful personalization settings, Verimour’s commitment to user privacy creates an environment where people can stop focusing on potential dangers and really connect. Hero Harbor’s app uses the same technology to provide a safe space to connect those who serve, including active duty, veterans, first responders, law enforcement and their spouses. Its mission is to ease loneliness, connect people with similar backgrounds and interests and eradicate the heartbreaking rise of suicide among military and first responder heroes.
