FPRA Southwest Florida Chapter Member Shannon Williamson Earns Professional Public Relations Accreditation

 

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Shannon Williamson, APR, of the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA), recently earned her professional public relations accreditation, and received the designation of Accredited in Public Relations (APR).

Williamson joins the more than 4,300 active public relations professionals worldwide who represent an elite group of skilled professionals committed to practicing with high ethical standards, including 38 currently in Southwest Florida.

As media specialist at LCEC, a not-for-profit electric cooperative in Southwest Florida, Williamson is responsible for leading events, managing social media, supporting projects, media relations, strategic campaigns, and contributing to newsletters. She graduated magna cum laude from Florida Gulf Coast University in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in communication and a concentration in public relations. Williamson has held multiple internships during her senior year, providing experience in various public relations industries. Joining FPRA in 2020, she has served on the SWFL Chapter as board secretary for two consecutive years, along with an additional leadership role as event chair for the chapter’s annual Local Image event, where she won the 2023 Rising Star Award. Williamson is currently nominated at the state level for the Joe Curley APR, CPRC Rising Leader Award. 

To earn public relations accreditation, candidates must pass an oral presentation and rigorous written examination administered by the Universal Accreditation Board (UAB), which is an alliance of eight national and statewide professional associations dedicated to furthering the field of public relations and the development of public relations professionals. FPRA is a member of the UAB.
