Funds available to apply for through Parent Employment Program

FloridaCommerce announced more than $6.5 million available to eligible organizations through the Non-Custodial Parent Employment Program. Eligible organizations can receive funds to provide services to non-custodial parents that will create a pathway for them to achieve higher levels of self-sufficiency through employment and training opportunities. Eligible organizations include governmental and quasi-governmental entities, nonprofit corporations, tribal governments, and Local Workforce Development Boards.

“Under the leadership of Governor DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis, Florida is committed to elevating our workforce and building strong communities,” said Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly. “The NCPEP builds on the commitment Florida has already made, enabling Floridians to achieve self-sufficiency and overcome challenges that otherwise inhibit Floridians’ ability to elevate their family’s opportunities.”

The funds will be administered through Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services. The application is available through their website. The deadline to apply is Thursday, June 20, at 5 p.m. Eastern Time.

Eligible organizations should use NCPEP funds to provide services to non-custodial parents who are unemployed or underemployed and may be used to bolster foster family stability. Effective implementation of the NCPEP includes:

·     Delivering training and resources to non-custodial parents.

·     Assisting with job search, resume building, parenting skills, financial literacy, and more.

·     Reporting program outputs, outcomes, challenges, and successes.
