GCM hires Nielson as project manager of storage boat facility

GCM Contracting Solutions, a regional leader in design-build general contracting, announced the appointment of Vernon Nielsen as its project manager for the state-of-the-art dry stack storage boat facility featuring GCM’s ASAR technology on Padre Island in Corpus Christi, Texas.

As project manager, Nielsen will play an integral role in managing the day-to-day operations of the marina project from its design phase to the finished product. The boat facility is a key part of the marina district associated with the one-billion-dollar Whitecap North Padre residential development. The marina design and construction are slated to take 24 months and will be one of the early major milestones of the development.

“As we expand our scope of projects outside of Florida, we are extremely fortunate to have a highly accomplished, diverse project manager, who is well-versed in various construction methodologies. His deep knowledge and firsthand experience are exactly what we need as we build out our growth strategy for GCM Contracting Solutions,” said Max Brown, vice president of GCM Contracting Solutions.

Nielsen brings over 30 years of experience in design-build, with extensive federal, public, and private commercial construction projects ranging from $24 million to $500 million. He attributes his career to his hands-on experience working in the field where he gained valuable skills in creative problem-solving, analytical decision-making, cost and time management. He takes extreme pride in his attention to detail and ensuring the client is satisfied. Nielsen will be relocating to Corpus Christi.

“I am extremely excited to lead this innovative marina project utilizing my experience to build a boat storage facility that is one of two of its kind in the United States. GCM’s ASAR technology will prove to be a valuable solution for the facility,” said Vernon Nielsen.
