Governor approves $400,000 for Fort Myers Beach projects
The Town of Fort Myers Beach has secured $400,000 in state funding after Governor Ron DeSantis approved two legislative appropriations that will support critical infrastructure improvements and strengthen flood resilience throughout the community.
The approved appropriations include funding for the following projects:
Fort Myers Beach Road Infrastructure Improvements Phase II – $250,000
The town received the full $250,000 requested to complete repairs and improvements not already funded on town-maintained side streets and roads, as well as sidewalks and curbs throughout the island. The appropriated funds will be utilized for construction costs associated with repairing and improving town streets, curbs, and sidewalks to promote safe travel and adequate accessibility for residents and visitors.
Fort Myers Beach Downtown Business Area Stormwater Improvements Phase II – $150,000
The town also received $150,000 to continue construction of stormwater management improvements in and around the Times Square area. The project will focus on improving stormwater infrastructure within the Town’s downtown business district to alleviate stormwater flooding while advancing mitigation efforts designed to reduce future flood impacts and strengthen community resilience.
“These investments represent another important step in Fort Myers Beach’s continued recovery and long-term resilience,” said Town Manager Will McKannay. “Improving our roads, sidewalks, and stormwater infrastructure enhances public safety, accessibility, and quality of life while helping prepare our community for the future. We are grateful to Governor DeSantis for approving these appropriations and to Senator Martin and Representative Botana for their steadfast support of Fort Myers Beach.”
The appropriations were sponsored during the 2026 Florida Legislative Session by Senator Martin and Representative Botana.
