Grey Oaks Country Club General Manager Don Emery named 2023 USPTA Large Facility Manager of the Year

NAPLES, Fla. – The United States Professional Tennis Association has named Grey Oaks Country Club General Manager Don Emery the 2023 USPTA Large Facility Manager of the Year. The award recognizes facility managers who encourage and develop their staff, hire and support USPTA-certified Professionals, and contribute to the tennis community.

“Always a supporter of USPTA education and certification, Don not only won the Large Facility Manager of the Year for the USPTA Florida division this year, but he can now claim the same award nationally,” said John Embree, USPTA CEO. “We appreciate what Don has done to promote racquet sports and the USPTA at Grey Oaks Country Club.”

Emery joined Grey Oaks Country Club as general manager in 2021 and immediately implemented a strategic financial and capital plan, branded GO FORWARD 2026, which included an extensive racquets center expansion, adding capacity for both tennis and pickleball. This expansion, which officially opened in December 2022, was in response to emerging trends in racquet sports, increased member demand, and the need to remain competitive within the regional and national country club space.

Since the grand opening of its new racquets center complex, pickleball and tennis visits at Grey Oaks have increased by more than 150% and 35%, respectively, with similar increases in clinic and lesson enrollment and team activities participation. Emery has also made investments in staff with the addition of three USPTA-certified professionals.
