Hi-Land Properties Named National Franchise of the Year for Fifth Time by HomeVestors, the We Buy Ugly Houses People

Hi-Land Properties, a local award-winning HomeVestors® franchise, has been named the We Buy Ugly Houses® National Franchise of the Year for the fifth time in the past 10 years. Last year, the franchise, one of more than 1,100 independently owned and operated HomeVestors’ franchises in 176 markets nationwide, bought 145 houses and had over $41 Million in total sales. Since becoming a franchise in 2005, Hi-Land, one of over 30 south Florida We Buy Ugly Houses franchises, has purchased over 1,400 homes from local sellers.

“Many homeowners saw opportunities to sell their homes dry up as the pandemic hit last spring, with some buyers even abandoning existing contracts outright,” said Don Cameron, owner of Hi-Land Properties. “But we kept buying throughout the year, helping fuel the real estate market’s historic mid-year gain of 25 percent. We have always felt an obligation to make our service continuously available to sellers, so we kept buying because local sellers needed us to.”

HomeVestors has been America’s number one homebuyer for several years. Franchises like Hi-Land adjusted during lockdown to purchase homes through virtual consultations or in-person in masks and with social distancing. In addition to closing on existing offers, Hi-Land kept writing new purchase contracts, maintaining its commitment to sellers that needed a way out of their difficult situations.

“We have always enjoyed working with local sellers using our proven model that offers the comfort of a personal visit with someone who can extend you a firm cash offer,” continued Cameron. “We have a vested interest in this community and are honored to be recognized by HomeVestors for our work.”

More than 80 percent of houses HomeVestors purchases are less than 1,400-square feet and were built before 1980. Franchises then generally rehab and sell the homes or hold them as investment properties. In creating a valuable supply of housing for first-time buyers, We Buy Ugly Houses® local small business owners also help raise real estate values and drive community revitalization.

“Franchises like Hi-Land Properties are reintroducing properties that might not otherwise have been available or even desirable to traditional buyers,” added David Hicks, chief executive officer of HomeVestors. “Don and his team have consistently done a stellar job, not only providing our service to sellers, but also also bringing the progress of new development and an affordable housing supply to the West Palm Beach community.”
