Lee Commissioners approve agreement to build Lee County Emergency Medical Services station
The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted Tuesday to approve an agreement for the construction for a Lee County Emergency Medical Services station at 13561 Goldenwood Drive, located just west of Treeline Avenue and Daniels Parkway.
The nearly $5.8 million agreement with Stultz Inc. for construction services is for a 7,794-square-foot EMS station on a county-owned site, providing operational, living and support spaces for EMS staff. Work includes site improvements, utility upgrades and installation of an emergency generator to ensure full station functionality.
Enhancing Emergency Medical Services to serve Lee County’s increasing population is a strategic priority established by the Lee Board of County Commissioners.
Lee County EMS has responded to more than 110,000 calls in the past 12 months.
Last year, commissioners conducted a workshop to discuss the five-year Public Safety growth plan. In addition to EMS, Public Safety also includes Emergency Management, Lee Control (911 communications) and Technology Services.
In August, Commissioners voted to purchase a parcel at 2401 River Hall Parkway in Alva for a future EMS station. Other stations are in phases of design or construction in San Carlos Park along Alico Road, in North Fort Myers on State Road 31, in Alva along State Road 80, and in Northern Cape Coral. The planned and budgeted Goldenwood Drive station will be funded through the General Fund.
The station is expected to be operational in November 2026.
