Lee County to close San Carlos public drop-off site
Lee County will close another Hurricane Milton public drop-off site at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17. This drop-off site is located at 18078 Cypress Point Road, San Carlos Park.
Residents in this area who would like to use this site are encouraged to do so now. Lee County would like to remind the public that dropping off materials outside of operational hours is considered illegal dumping. After site closure, the San Carlos public drop-off site will remain under surveillance to prevent unlawful activity.
The county opened four self-haul sites following Hurricane Milton to help residents. As demand diminishes, sites are closed.
The remaining county site is for Matlacha-Pine Island area residents. This location is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at 5031 Pine Island Road.
Only storm debris is accepted, and you must unload your trucks yourself. No more than 5 cubic yards of debris may be dropped off at a time.
Be prepared to show identification and be a resident of unincorporated Lee County. Accepted forms of ID include driver’s license, utility bill, rental or lease agreement, or local business license. You will be asked to complete a waiver confirming the debris came from your property. Waivers can be found online at www.leegov.com/solidwaste/hurricane, or printed forms are available on site.
Lee County reminds residents that debris-hauling operations continue throughout unincorporated areas for Hurricane Milton-impacted locations.
Residents are asked to separate their debris piles to expediate collection. Lee County is committed to transparency with the public about cleanup efforts and has information readily available online. Visit www.leegov.com/hurricane/milton/debris. Or go to the Debris Removal Information Dashboard, which has an up-to-date debris removal map provided by the county’s contractor.
