Luminary Hotel & Co. Receives Prestigious Alice S. Marriott Award

FORT MYERS, Fla.  – Luminary Hotel & Co. has been honored with the prestigious Alice S. Marriott Award for Community Service, presented in Washington, D.C. on Monday, Oct. 16. The esteemed award recognizes Luminary’s exceptional efforts in organizing a rally in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian to provide aid, an example of the hotel’s unwavering commitment to serving its community in times of need. In addition to the Oct. 12, 2022, rally, Luminary was among five of Tampa-based Mainsail Lodging & Development’s popular hotel rooftop bars to raise $12,000 for the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida during their “Raise the Roof” events. Beyond this remarkable recognition, Luminary Hotel & Co. remains committed to its charitable initiatives by continuing its partnerships with the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida and the Dr. Ella Mae Piper Foundation.

“We are humbled and deeply grateful to receive the Alice S. Marriott Award for Community Service,” said Robert “Bobby” Nokley, General Manager of Luminary Hotel & Co. “Our commitment to our community is part of our DNA, and this award only strengthens our determination to continue supporting the people of southwest Florida. We share this honor with all those who joined us in making a difference.”

Hurricane Ian, a Category 4 storm, brought extensive damage to the southwest Florida community in September 2022, leaving thousands of residents displaced and in dire need of assistance. Responding swiftly to the call for help, Luminary Hotel & Co. went above and beyond to coordinate a community rally that brought hope, resources, and support to those affected by the hurricane. During the event, more than 800 hot lunches were served, two pallets of water and tarps were supplied, 300 family food kits were distributed, and 65 families were directly helped by FEMA representatives. In the face of adversity, Luminary Hotel & Co. exemplified the Marriott family’s long-standing tradition of community engagement, embodying the spirit of service that has been a core value of the Marriott legacy for generations.

“I’m incredibly proud of our team at Luminary Hotel & Co. and their dedication to the Southwest Florida community, especially in times of crisis, which exemplifies the values and principles at the core of Mainsail,” said Joe Collier, President and Founder of Mainsail Lodging & Development. “This award is well-deserved recognition of their unwavering commitment to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors.”
