Marissa Stress Peterson promoted to COO for Harry Chapin Food Bank
Harry Chapin Food Bank announced the promotion of Marissa Stress Peterson to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Peterson has been an integral part of the organization’s leadership team since joining in November 2021, most recently serving as Director of Community Impact and Partnerships.
With more than 15 years of experience in the nonprofit and government sectors, Peterson is recognized for her collaborative, solution-oriented approach and a strategic mindset. Her leadership has been pivotal in strengthening partnerships, developing innovative programs, and expanding the food bank’s reach across Southwest Florida. A passionate advocate for equity and access, she has played a vital role in advancing the mission to end hunger in our region.
Peterson holds a bachelor of arts degree from George Mason University and a graduate degree in criminal justice administration from Boston University. Throughout her career, she has led initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes and sustainable community impact. She is known for building inclusive, high-performing teams and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and growth that aligns closely with Harry Chapin Food Bank’s core values.
As Chief Operating Officer, Peterson will continue to lead with a strong sense of purpose and dedication, guiding the organization through both challenges and opportunities as it works toward a hunger-free future.
In addition to her professional achievements, Peterson remains deeply engaged in the community. She serves on several advisory boards, including the Advisory Council for the Area Agency on Aging and the Health and Wellness Coalition. Her commitment to community well-being reflects her passion for social change and meaningful, long-term impact.
