Naples Airport Authority awarded 15th consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting

Naples Airport Authority has been honored with its 15th consecutive Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2019. The CAFR is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment.

Ken Warriner, senior director of finance and administration for the Naples Airport Authority was also awarded the Financial Reporting Achievement Award by GFOA. The award recognizes Warriner’s leadership of the Naples Airport Authority’s Finance Department and the critical role it played in attaining the Certificate of Achievement.

“The NAA finance team works tirelessly to ensure our financial reporting is fully transparent and accurately communicates the financial picture of the Naples Airport Authority,” said Chris Rozansky, Naples Airport Authority Executive Director. “We are proud to continue our record of excellence in financial reporting.”

The GFOA, a nonprofit professional association serving more than 21,000 government finance professionals, assembled an impartial panel to judge the submitted CAFRs. Judges reviewed submissions against the program’s high standards, which include demonstration of a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and groups to read the CAFR. Naples Airport is ideally located within minutes of downtown Naples, the Gulf of Mexico and I-75, connecting people to the Paradise Coast through an exceptional airport experience. The airport serviced 104,479 annual operations in the last fiscal year, while being an engaged, responsive partner to the community. Home to flight schools, air charter operators, car rental agencies, and corporate aviation and non-aviation businesses, the airport is also a central location for public services, including fire/rescue services, mosquito control, the Collier County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and other community services.

All funds used for the airport’s operation, maintenance and improvements are generated from activities at the airport or federal and state grants from aviation-related user fees. The airport receives no local tax dollars. The Florida Department of Transportation values the airport’s annual economic impact to the community at more than $440 million.
