Naples Airport Authority honors deployed service members with RED Fridays

The Naples Airport Authority recently launched its RED Friday program to honor currently deployed U.S. service members. Internationally, RED stands for Remember Everyone Deployed and is the NAA’s way of honoring and remembering those currently deployed and standing in solidarity with their families.

All employees were given an NAA RED polo shirt to wear on Fridays. Operations staff who must wear high-visibility safety uniforms were also given the option of wearing an NAA RED baseball hat to participate.

RED Fridays are an important cause for NAA staff who have family members who have or are currently deployed. The program is also a way to honor the airport’s origins. Naples Airport began operating as a military training facility named the Naples Airdrome in 1943 and throughout World War II.

The NAA encourages all airports or organizations to join them in this recognition of the country’s veterans and service members, especially those currently deployed.

Naples Airport is ideally located within minutes of downtown Naples, the Gulf of Mexico and I-75, connecting people to the Paradise Coast through an exceptional airport experience. The airport serviced 104,479 annual operations in the last fiscal year, while being an engaged, responsive partner to the community. Home to flight schools, air charter operators, car rental agencies, and corporate aviation and non-aviation businesses, the airport is also a central location for public services, including fire/rescue services, mosquito control, the Collier County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and other community services.

All funds used for the airport’s operation, maintenance and improvements are generated from activities at the airport or federal and state grants from aviation-relted user fees. The airport receives no local tax dollars. The Florida Department of Transportation values the airport’s annual economic impact to the community at more than $440 million.
