New harbormaster appointed for Fort Myers Beach

Curtis Ludwig will begin working for the Town of Fort Myers Beach as the new harbormaster for the Matanzas Pass Mooring Field.

Ludwig is a born and raised Florida native, from Jacksonville, with an extensive background in marine operations. Serving in the United States Coast Guard allowed him to get his start in the maritime industry. During his ten years of service with the Coast Guard, he was stationed in the Middle East on a patrol boat, and he
spent time on a tug and barge.

After his service he stayed in the maritime industry where he has experience working as a shipping
agent, port manager, project manager, and even an operations manager where he oversaw the daily
operations of a port, docking and releasing vessels. He also has his 100-ton Master Captains License.
Ludwig is an avid outdoorsman. Growing up at marinas as a kid, he would spend most of his time fishing
with his family. His career has made his passion for the water only grow stronger.

Ludwig stated, “I am excited about this new role! I feel as though it is the right fit based off the Towns
needs and my skillset and knowledge in the industry. I am looking forward to continuing the build back
process of the Marine Operations Division post Hurricane Ian, and playing a vital role in growing the
division to where it needs to be.”
