Nick Kattma earns status as a certified sommelier

Angelina’s Ristorante celebrates Nick Kattman’s recent achievement of earning his status as a Certified Sommelier. In the fine dining industry, having a single certified sommelier is considered a mark of excellence, and Angelina’s sets itself apart by boasting two in-house. Kattman and Certified Sommelier Dinah Leach take pride in offering guests an exceptional dining experience enhanced by a curated wine list featuring the finest selections from around the globe.

Kattman joined Angelina’s in 2014 as a server and took an interest in learning more about wine when Leach arrived in 2015. Leach provided educational opportunities for fellow staff to ensure that dinner guests would have the best culinary experience with food and wine. Kattman passed the Certified Sommelier exam last month and was named Valedictorian of his class. In addition to earning this prestigious certification, he earned a scholarship towards his third round of examinations, the Advanced Sommelier exam.

“Nick has shown exceptional dedication to becoming a sommelier, going above and beyond to immerse himself in the wine industry. While he was eager to participate in the wine classes, he also took the initiative to learn outside the classroom by studying the wines, the wine regions, bottle labels, and even volunteering to come to the restaurant on his off days to inventory and stock the incoming wine orders into the wine tower. We are thrilled and proud of Nick for earning such an elite certification,” said Dinah Leach, Sommelier at Angelina’s Ristorante.
