Nor-Tech, Mercury Racing donate $50,000 to Cape Coral Caring Center

Cape Coral, FL (Oct. 13, 2022) – The generosity of boat manufacturer Nor-Tech Hi Performance Boats and its engine partner Mercury Racing is kicking off one of the largest fundraising campaigns in the history of the Cape Coral Caring Center in response to the devastation left behind by Hurricane Ian.

With matching donations of $25,000 each from Nor-Tech and Mercury Racing, Cape Coral Caring Center Executive Director Julie Ferguson was presented a check for $50,000 this week. Because the two marine manufacturing companies are seeking matches to their generosity, other donations are coming in, including $7,500 from Jay Ganzi, managing partner of Cape Coral Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

Those wishing to donate to the Cape Coral Caring Center, which provides non-perishable food, help with utility bills and other resources for those in need, can go to capecoralcaringcenter.org, click on “How You Can Help” and then on the Mercury Racing “Donate” button.

“Nor-Tech is delighted to spearhead this online charity drive together with Mercury Racing,” said Trond Schou, founder and CEO of Nor-Tech. “It is our goal to make this campaign the largest online charity drive ever in Cape Coral Caring Center’s history. We will need everyone’s help and support and together we can make a difference.”

During the check presentation ceremony at Nor-Tech, attended by Nor-Tech executives, a representative from Mercury Racing, Cape Coral Mayor John Gunter, Ganzi, members of the Cape Coral Caring Center board and other dignitaries, Ferguson talked about the tremendous need in the Cape Coral community.

“We are so thankful that Nor-Tech and Mercury Racing are helping us help our community get back on its feet after Ian,” Ferguson said. “Such generosity and kindness. I’m just overwhelmed. We will use these funds to help our families that are suffering and need a hand up, a kind friendly smile, and encouragement that it is going to get better.”
