Patty Wilson

Bonita Springs, Fl – Resident Services Director Patty Wilson of The Terraces at Bonita Springs has been named Employee of the Year by the statewide senior care association, LeadingAge Florida.

The award, given at the organization’s annual membership convention in Orlando, recognizes Wilson for her extraordinary dedication, stellar customer service, outstanding performance, and commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents of The Terraces adult Lifecare community.

“I am lucky, thrilled, proud, blessed, and a dozen other adjectives to have Patty on my team,” says Executive Director Michele Wasserlauf. “Residents (at The Terraces) recognize, as I do, her genuine care and concern. She is fiercely protective and knows no bounds when providing service for them.”

As resident services director, Wilson develops, plans, and oversees the resident independent living experience at The Terraces, including the community’s transportation and concierge operations. Eleven years ago, she shifted from a career in religious education to healthcare while serving primarily in multiple management skilled nursing roles within adult living communities.

Wilson, exclaims Wasserlauf, can be found tending to multiple functions, such as bartending at Happy Hour, calling Bingo, valeting cars at marketing events, responding to resident emergencies, holding monthly “Getting Chatty with Patty” meetings, and much more.

Having achieved a degree as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) during her service time in skilled nursing, Wilson found the transition to independent living seamless and that her nursing experience is an asset to her current position. “I discovered the independent living side of CCRC (continuing care retirement community) lifecare and fell in love with the residents,” she notes.

Wilson is humble about her recent LeadingAge Florida recognition. “Proud is not a word I usually use; I am blessed to have had the opportunities in life to enjoy careers that I personally find so rewarding. And I am honored to be chosen as the recipient of this prestigious award – especially considering all those in our industry that daily work so hard to ensure that residents living in lifecare communities receive the best in support and care.” More than 250 mission-driven communities are members of LeadingAge Florida organization.

Residents at The Terraces say they are thankful that Wilson has been recognized for her work. “Patty is the go-to person for complicated or simple resident issues. Residents have grown to respect and admire her in her role as resident services director,” says former independent living Resident Council President Floyd Willson.

Employees also concur. Concierge Pamela Boyd notes that Wilson is “a generous, empathetic, kind-hearted person with a willingness to help anyone for the improvement of the quality of life for the residents of The Terraces at Bonita Springs.”
