PNC Bank Awards $15k to Goodwill for Essential Community Services in Southwest Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla.– PNC Bank awarded $15,000 to support Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida’s Community Resource Center services in Southwest Florida. Serving more than 800 people a week, Community Resource Centers and Job-Link Centers provide assistance with unemployment applications, SNAP, LIHEAP, economic impact stimulus for non-filers, resume writing, online job search, up-skilling, and digital skills training.

“PNC’s commitment to Southwest Florida has never been more important as we collectively navigate the overwhelming challenges posed by this global pandemic,” said PNC Regional President for West & Central Florida Chad Loar. “As a bank, we recognize our role as a pillar of the communities we serve, and we are actively working with several local organizations like Goodwill to help those affected by providing a variety of solutions that make the most sense for meeting their particular needs.”

Goodwill SWFL values the charitable contribution made by PNC Bank and their work to strengthen and enrich the lives of their neighbors in the communities where they live and work.

“During this unprecedented time we anticipate that our demand for employment services and accessing needed community resources for people in need will be at an all-time high in the upcoming months,” said Goodwill’s VP of Community Support Services Fred Richards. “It is the generosity and proactive response by businesses like PNC that will assist us in sustaining and delivering these crucial services.”

The Florida DEO reports more than 500K reemployment assistance claims already, and unemployment in Southwest Florida is predicted to rise. Goodwill’s community services are needed more than ever.
