Reopening Phase 2: Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step. Plan for Florida’s Recovery

Prepared by: Metz, Husband & Daughton, P.A.

Yesterday, Governor DeSantis held a press conference at Universal Studios Citywalk to announce the next phase of Florida’s Recovery Plan which will apply to all counties in the state except Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach. Under this subsequent phase, movie theaters, bowling allies and other entertainment businesses will be allowed to reopen at 50% capacity with appropriate social distancing and specified sanitization protocols. Pari-mutuel facilities and casinos may submit a request to the reopen to the Department of Business & Professional Regulation which must include an endorsement from their county mayor or county administrator if there is no mayor. This is similar to what Florida’s theme parks and amusement establishments did previously. Also under Phase 2, bars, pubs and lounges can reopen at 50% capacity with seated service only (no standing at bars will be allowed).
